Andorra's women's national football team suffered a heavy 0-5 defeat to the Faroe Islands in the first of two friendly matches at the Estadi Nacional in Andorra la Vella. The result came despite the home side dominating possession for much of the game, particularly in the first half, under coach Albert Panadero.

Around 200 spectators, including students from British College, friends and family of the players, filled the stands for the midday kick-off on Thursday. Andorra controlled the ball early against a compact Faroe Islands defence that sat deep and limited space. The visitors struck first in the 21st minute when Tórolvsdóttir finished a low cross from Zakariasardóttir at the near post, beating goalkeeper Alba Martín.

Andorra created chances but lacked finishing. Aitana Colobrans, returning from injury, saw her shot saved by Lützen, while Maria Ruzafa fired wide from distance. The Faroes nearly conceded when Clàudia Plaja hit the post shortly after coming on as a substitute in the second half, but they capitalised on their efficiency. Braendstrup scored the second in the 67th from a corner rebound, followed by Benjaminsen's long-range effort in the 77th after a Martín error.

Substitute Sigurdsson added a fourth in the 84th with a surging run and cross-shot, then completed her brace in stoppage time (90+1) after breaking from midfield. Andorra tired late, unable to convert opportunities from Maria Da Cruz and others.

Panadero used the match to test new tactics, including building from the back and pressing higher, with positive minutes for younger players. The Faroes, who have now won all five previous meetings, extended their dominance.

The teams meet again on Monday at the same venue from 5pm, as Andorra prepares for next year's Nations League draw.
