The fifth Xavi Andorra Karate Cup attracted 123 young competitors from Andorra, Spain, and France on Saturday at El Prat Gran in Escaldes-Engordany.
Organized by the Karate Xavi Andorra club with support from the Escaldes-Engordany commune and the Andorrana Karate Federation, the event has solidified its place in the promotional karate calendar. Xavier Herver, the lead organizer, praised the smooth running of the tournament, noting that participating clubs expressed high satisfaction and no major incidents occurred.
Herver highlighted the strong showings from local athletes, stating that those expected to win did so and others rose to the challenge. In the medals table, Karate Club Fudo-Shin topped the standings with eight golds, nine silvers, and 15 bronzes. Hosts Karate Xavi Andorra placed second with six golds, five silvers, and 12 bronzes, while Club Karate Jion took third with two golds, two silvers, and two bronzes. Clubs Sepai and Castelsarrasin Karate also earned notable results.
International participation, especially from French clubs, continued to grow, underscoring the event's appeal across borders. Herver emphasized its model of promoting wide involvement, skill-building, and respect among competitors as a key strength driving future expansion.
