Andorra Rolls Out Turbo Roundabouts at La Margineda, Encamp Sud and Gall

Andorra's Mobility department has confirmed the rollout of turbo roundabouts at La Margineda starting 30 April, with Encamp Sud to follow during the week of 4 May and the Gall roundabout later.

This expansion builds on pilot implementations at the Casadet and km 0 roundabouts, where signage took effect on 3 March. Early monitoring, though over a limited period, shows positive outcomes including safer circulation, improved traffic organisation and shorter peak-hour journey times—a 11% reduction at Casadet and 15% at km 0, according to department data shared on social media. One source cited a 10-15% range for the time savings.

The turbo roundabout design uses lane markings and signage to assign fixed paths, preventing changes within the circle and reducing vehicle conflicts at busy junctions. Officials previously identified La Margineda, Encamp Sud, Gall and La Bartra as priority sites.

Mobility plans a gradual, site-specific deployment to optimise traffic flow amid persistent congestion, adapting signage to each location's needs while retaining successful pilots. The move aligns with broader efforts for more efficient road networks.
