Shirtless Tourist Arrested in Andorra la Vella for €15K Car Dealership Vandalism

Police in Andorra la Vella arrested a 24-year-old tourist early Monday morning on suspicion of damaging property at a car dealership in the capital.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, near the bus station. Witnesses reported seeing the man, who had just arrived in Andorra by bus, throw stones and pieces of concrete at the dealership from outside the premises. He targeted illuminated signs on the building and the windscreens of three vehicles parked in the open-air section of the lot. The man was shirtless despite the cool night air, and after the attack, he moved a short distance away before police located and detained him about an hour and a half later.

Initial damage estimates from police stood at over €600, but a court-ordered assessment later valued the repairs at around €15,000. The signs were beyond repair and required full replacement, while the windscreens also needed substituting.

The suspect, a non-resident, offered no explanation for his actions during questioning at the police station or before the judicial authority. Sources indicated he appeared disoriented and barely aware of his location upon arrival, though no firm conclusions have been drawn about his state of mind.

On Monday evening, the Batllia issued a penal order sentencing him to two months in prison. He will be expelled from Andorra upon completion of the term.
