Andorra la Vella Begins Raised Pavement on CG-1 to Link Key Sports Facilities

Andorra la Vella has started work on a new raised pavement along the CG-1 highway, creating a direct link from the Rotonda de la Comella to the Estadi Comunal Joan Samarra Vila.

The project connects the stadium with the Centre Esportiu dels Serradells, two of the parish's most-used sports facilities, by providing pedestrian access from both sides of the highway. Previously, one side lacked safe passage. Local authorities highlighted the initiative as a result of an agreement between the comú, the national government, and the landowner of the adjacent plot.

Construction began this week, with the comú announcing the start via a social media video that stressed "building networks" and linking "vital community spaces." The works include installing an underground drainage pipe and other safety enhancements to improve pedestrian access.

Motorists should note traffic changes: the right-hand lane in the direction of Escaldes-Engordany, between the Rotonda de les Costes and Rotonda de la Comella, will be closed until the end of June, according to the Mobilitat department.

The project is expected to finish within the next few weeks, contributing to wider efforts to enhance safety and connectivity around key public sites in the capital.
