Andorra la Vella's communal parking authority will suspend PK card recharges and sales of temporary access cards at barrier-controlled car parks starting 18 May. The outage, expected to last about three weeks until 7 June, is required to update the vehicle control system's hardware and software, along with transferring the database to a more advanced server.
The Comú urges regular PK card users to top up their balance ahead of time, ideally before the work begins, to ensure enough credit for at least three weeks of parking. This step aims to prevent access issues while recharges remain unavailable due to technical reasons.
Temporary access cards issued at vending machines—normally for 3, 7, or 30 days—will not be available during the period. The 3- and 7-day options will be replaced by standard daily rates. Users whose 30-day subscriptions expire between 18 May and 7 June should visit the main desk at Centre Ciutat car park to obtain a new one.
Councillor for Traffic and Parking Xavier Surana said the main goal is to notify users early so no one runs out of balance over the three weeks. He described the upgrade as an essential move toward a faster, more reliable, and secure system that meets current technological demands, despite the short-term disruption.
