The Andorran government has approved rehabilitation works for the heliport on the fifth floor of Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital in Escaldes-Engordany, along with a contract to prepare upgrades for the emergency heliport at the Santa Coloma fire station.
These measures aim to strengthen safety, efficiency, and response capabilities for essential services at both facilities.
The hospital tender, valued at €1.37 million, addresses roof covering issues through pavement repairs, waterproofing, structural fixes, updated signage and lighting, and enhanced fire protection. It forms part of an extraordinary €5 million-plus credit approved in May to acquire advanced medical equipment and improve hospital infrastructure for a stronger public health system.
ENGITEC SA received a €30,000 contract to develop the fire station design within two months. The project will detail modernizations to bolster civil protection logistics and specialized air transport.
The Council of Ministers greenlit both the hospital tender and fire station contract on Wednesday to adapt critical infrastructure to growing public service demands. No timeline has been announced for construction at the hospital or follow-on work at the fire station.
