Concrete Detaches from Andorra Car Park Ramp, Closing Upper Entrance

Access to the upper entrance of the Centre Ciutat car park from Plaça Rebés remains closed after a section of concrete covering detached from the ramp ceiling.

Local authorities in Andorra la Vella first became aware of the incident yesterday and immediately fenced off the area for safety. Technicians from the parish council are on site evaluating the cause and extent of the damage, which affects access to both the Centre Ciutat and Vinyes car parks. The closure, marked by two barriers and a sign reading "Accés aparcament tanca", prevents vehicles from entering from the square, redirecting them via Carrer Prat de la Creu.

Officials have not determined the exact reason for the detachment. While ongoing renovation works at the public facility in Plaça Rebés have raised questions, no direct link has been confirmed. Some workers suggested to reporters that recent heavy rains causing humidity might be the most likely factor.

The parish council noted that parking availability should not be impacted, as both facilities have alternative exits to the street. The entrance will remain shut at least through today, with indications that the closure could extend further pending the technical assessment.

No injuries occurred in the incident.
