La Massana to Build 50-Space Car Park and Sports Square in Escàs

La Massana parish council is advancing plans for a 50-space public car park, landscaped square, and multi-sports court in the Escàs neighbourhood, building on the recent Torrepuis car park opening in Anyós last July.

The development will use a 2,271.79-square-metre plot the council acquired in 2024. Underground facilities will include the parking spaces, a waste collection point, drinking fountains, and bicycle racks. The surface area will feature a 1,300-square-metre garden plaza and a 15-by-25-metre sports court for residents.

A tender for the works will be published this week in the Official Bulletin of the Principat d'Andorra (BOPA). The project carries an estimated cost of 3.3 million euros, drawn from multi-year budgets. This year’s initial site preparation phase has a budget of about 100,000 euros.

Works councillor Kevin Poulet described the initiative as central to the council’s efforts to expand public parking across parishes including Pal, L'Aldosa, and Arinsal, where a 5,500-square-metre plot already serves as an informal car park. He stressed that boosting parking directly supports residents’ well-being and quality of life, with further land acquisitions planned to address current and growing needs.
