Andorra Urges Taxi Operators to Join Single Dispatch Centre Amid Violations

Andorra's State Secretary for Mobility and Energy Transition, David Forné, warned on Tuesday that taxi operators refusing to join the country's single dispatch centre are breaching regulations and must integrate soon.

More than 90% of professionals now use the platform, run by the Andorran Taxi Association (ATA) and Interurban Taxi Association (ATI) since its launch in April. A minority of holdouts continue operating independently despite meetings to ease their entry. Forné stressed that the rules require all drivers to connect to a dispatch centre, and with only one available, they have no choice. "They are not complying with the regulation right now, and we encourage them to join this centre in the coming days," he told reporters, while avoiding details on sanctions.

He expressed confidence that the Taxi Andorra app—described as efficient despite occasional server outages—would persuade them. Forné noted the system allows for future additional centres but said independent work remains illegal until then.

In a related update, Forné detailed a competitive tender for Andorra–La Seu d'Urgell Airport services, featuring renewed Madrid and Palma de Mallorca routes alongside a new Paris link from 2027. Up to €5 million in annual funding aims to position the airport as a regional hub, with officials targeting operators equipped with ATR aircraft. Bidders have two weeks left to submit proposals.

Air Nostrum, the current provider, leads interest, though Forné declined to confirm rivals. He called the terms "very attractive" and ambitious, adding that any budget surplus could support an extra flight beyond the core routes. A monitoring committee will review prices and load factors quarterly, potentially enabling more frequencies such as additional midweek Madrid services or market-driven options. No further destinations are planned at the outset.
