A 19-year-old driver sustained minor injuries after his car veered off the CG-5 road in Les Bordes d'Arinsal and plunged into the riverbed near Hotel Sant Gothard on Tuesday afternoon.
Police and emergency services confirmed the single-vehicle incident occurred between 4 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. Firefighters received the alert at 4:10 p.m. and deployed four units—two from Massana and two from Santa Coloma—with five personnel. By the time they arrived, local residents had already helped the young man, who held an Andorran-plated vehicle, exit the car after it struck iron safety barriers.
Responders focused on containing and cleaning up fuel spilled from the badly damaged front end of the vehicle. An ambulance from the SUM service transported the driver to hospital, where his injuries were described as light and not serious by firefighters. Two police patrols and traffic agents managed the scene, setting up an alternative route on the CG-5 with minimal disruption and no major delays.
A crane later removed the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with no further details released.
In a separate incident, police reported material-only damage from a collision between a car and a motorbike in Margineda.
