Police in Andorra arrested six people over the weekend for driving under the influence of alcohol, including two involved in material-damage crashes and four others with breathalyser readings between 0.94 and 2.27.
One crash occurred around 8:15am Sunday on the CG1 at kilometre 5 in the Margineda area of Andorra la Vella, heading toward Sant Julià de Lòria. A 36-year-old man lost control of his Andorran-registered passenger car, which hit a roadside curb wall. The vehicle was damaged but no injuries were reported and no medical help was needed. Officers arrested him after a breathalyser showed 1.76.
A separate incident happened Friday night at kilometre 12.350 on the CG2 in the Trava area of Canillo, where a 47-year-old man in an Andorran-registered vehicle collided with another Andorran-registered car. The crash caused property damage only. Police detained him following a reading of 2.19.
Police also arrested a woman and three men aged 36 to 65, including one tourist, for drink-driving. The highest reading among these cases was 2.27. In addition, officers detained a 48-year-old man in Escaldes-Engordany over the weekend for driving with a suspended licence, facing a charge related to a public authority offence.
Earlier reports mentioned a collision at 11:10am Saturday on Avinguda de les Nacions Unides in Escaldes-Engordany, where an Andorran-registered 4x4 hit a motorcycle, requiring hospital treatment for both drivers.
