Andorra Approves 533 Economic Aid Claims, Disburses €1.73M in Q1 2026

Andorra's Department of Social Affairs approved 533 out of 545 applications for occasional economic aid in the first quarter of 2026, disbursing a total of €1,729,350.17. The successful claims resulted in 1,089 individual grants, primarily under Article 27 for covering basic needs, which accounted for 45.1% of approvals at €348,658.22.

The aids reached 474 households and benefited 712 people, with an average annual amount per household of €3,648.42. Single-person households received 63.4% of grants (326 cases), followed by single-parent families at 23.4% (85 cases). Women obtained 63.6% of the aids, compared to 36.4% for men. By nationality, Andorran households secured 37.4% of grants, while Spanish households received 31.8%.

Applications for child custody benefits fell 12.5% to 142 from 162 in the same period of 2025. Of these, 75.5% were approved, 19% rejected, 4.1% archived, and 1.4% pending documentation. Women received 83.8% of the approved benefits. Most beneficiaries were Andorran (30.6%) or Spanish (22.5%), with 59.5% having lived in the Principality lifelong or for over 20 years. Single-parent families claimed 64% of grants, mainly for one child (42.3%) or two children (39.6%). Andorra la Vella saw the highest share at 37.8%. The main rejection reason was exceeding the family LECS threshold, cited in 78.6% of 28 denials.

Disability solidarity pensions saw 18 applications, up 28.6% from 14 the previous year. Some 83.3% were approved, with active pensions rising 12.5% to 432 as of 31 March 2026 from 384 a year earlier (419 at end-2025). Women comprised 55.6% of beneficiaries, who were mostly Andorran (55.6%) or Spanish (24.1%), single (64.6%), and long-term residents (41.2% lifelong). Over half (52.8%) had multiple disabilities, and 62% had a 60-69% disability rating. Most (56%) received monthly amounts between €1,201 and the 2026 minimum wage of €1,525.33.

Statistics also noted 1,431 rental aid applications by 30 April, with half rejected, as previously reported.
