Four architecture teams' proposals for redesigning Avinguda Sant Antoni in La Massana have advanced to the evaluation stage.
La Massana parish council has closed the submission phase of its national ideas competition for remodelling and enhancing the avenue, its main urban artery. A technical evaluation committee—made up of representatives from the council, the Col·legi Oficial d’Arquitectes d’Andorra, and the Col·legi Oficial d’Enginyers d’Andorra—will now review the four entries to select the winner based on the project's goals.
Works Councillor Kevin Poulet emphasised the need to define the avenue's future model in advance. He noted that construction will proceed in phases once the new bypass opens, describing it as a unique opportunity to rethink La Massana's centre. "The future diversion offers a chance to turn Avinguda Sant Antoni into a much more pleasant space for walking, socialising, and enjoying local commerce," Poulet said.
The effort forms part of a broader transformation of the parish core, tied to the bypass route. That infrastructure will ease through-traffic, cut environmental pollution, and enable the avenue to evolve into a safer, greener, and more appealing area for residents and visitors.
The council continues to collaborate with the Andorran Chamber of Commerce and local traders to gather input that will shape the final design.
