Naturland Adventure Park Sees 40,000 Visitors and 7% Drop in Summer Revenue

Disappointing summer results at La Rabassa's Naturland were attributed to bad weather, cautious family spending favoring free alternatives, and a key ride closure after lightning. Some attractions like ziplines thrived.

Key Points

  • 40,000 visitors marked 7% decline in attendance and revenue from prior year.
  • Poor August weather, spending caution, and Tobotronc ride outage blamed for shortfall.
  • Eclipsi zipline and Aventura passes sold out nearly daily; horseback rides popular.
  • Park open weekends through October with limited attractions and services.

Naturland, the adventure park in La Rabassa, recorded 40,000 visitors over the summer season, marking a 7% decline in both attendance and revenue from the prior year.

Park officials called the results disappointing and below targets, blaming poor weather—particularly in August—along with guests' greater caution on spending. Many families opted for free outdoor options instead. A technical issue forced the popular Tobotronc ride offline for three days on 15, 16, and 17 August, right at the height of demand, after a lightning storm struck.

Director General Miquel Llanas said weather had a clear negative effect on both crowds and earnings during key periods.

Certain attractions bucked the trend. The Eclipsi zipline saw strong demand, with Aventura Plus and Aventura Max passes—both granting access—selling out nearly every day in August. The Aventura Max option, in its debut full summer, drew solid interest. Horseback riding trips also ranked among the top supplementary activities.

Naturland will stay open weekends through 12 October, covering dates like 11-13 September and 10-12 October. Those periods will offer Aventura, Aventura Plus, and Naturkids tickets, plus horseback rides and Bike Center services. From 17 October to 22 November, operations will shift to the 1,600-metre zone on weekends, subject to conditions.
