Andorran artist Makuka, the stage name of 18-year-old Nicolás Vega, will represent the Principality at the 22nd FiM Vila-seca, a festival highlighting emerging and family-oriented music from May 7 to 10 in Vila-seca, Tarragona.
His performance arises from a 2023 agreement between Andorra's Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Vila-seca town council, the event organiser. The pact promotes artistic exchanges, boosts the international profile of Andorran musicians, and opens new audiences and markets for local talent.
Vega, who has performed in London, appeared at the BAM festival and reached the Sona9 contest semifinals, delivers high-energy live sets with a full band that captivates audiences immediately. He takes the stage on Saturday, May 9, at 9pm in Parc de la Formiga as part of the official lineup.
Joan-Marc Joval, the ministry's cultural promotion director, welcomed the collaboration, stating that Andorran emerging acts receive excellent support at the festival, which provides an ideal showcase to propel their careers. He called FiM Vila-seca a benchmark event that spurs musicians to hone their material in pursuit of a slot.
Festival artistic director Martí Marfà described Andorra as a small but remarkably prolific territory, producing fresh proposals annually. He noted the team has followed Makuka for two years, praising his youthful freshness, relaxed rock attitude and energy. Marfà added that the artist's recent surge in quality and visibility made this the right moment to include him, calling him a "terratrèmol"—or earthquake—in the lineup.
The event, themed "Tot per descobrir" (All to Discover), will feature more than 60 acts across municipal venues, attracting industry professionals, programmers and specialised media. It positions Vila-seca as a hub for spotting tomorrow's music stars through proximity and discovery. The 2026 edition will expand on this format.
