Clarissan Nun Presents Book on Saint Just of Urgell, Andorra's First Co-Prince

Sor Maria Victoria Triviño, a Clarissan nun and writer, has presented her book *Els escrits de Sant Just d’Urgell. Segle VI*, which examines the writings of Saint Just of Urgell, the 6th-century founder of the Urgell diocese and recognised as Andorra's first co-prince.

The public presentation, held in Andorra la Vella on 18 April 2026, was led by the Bishop of Urgell and current co-prince, Josep-Lluís Serrano, with Archpriest Ramon Sàrries also in attendance. Triviño approaches Saint Just through a blend of scholarly research and spiritual reflection, tracing his legacy in the early Urgell Church. She portrays the bishop as both mystical and pragmatic, grounded in everyday realities.

In the book's foreword, Bishop Serrano emphasises Saint Just's enduring value, particularly his commentary on the Song of Songs. He describes it as a precious inheritance that calls for rediscovering the wisdom inherent in faith today—a faith rooted in lived experience of God's love, rather than ideology or mere morality. "The Church of our time, like that of the 6th century, needs bishops, priests, and laity who live and transmit the wisdom of faith," Serrano writes, arguing this approach equips the Church to address contemporary challenges with pastoral insight and hope.

The event also featured mossèn Gabriel Casanovas, who accompanied a group of seminary students visiting the diocese. He affirmed the ongoing relevance of Saint Just's message amid modern uncertainties, noting it provides meaningful answers, including for young people. Casanovas pointed to recent positive trends, such as growing interest among youth in seminary life and increased activity in parishes.
