La Massana Hosts Bigger Benedicció de Setúria with 1,000 Sheep on June 27

La Massana will host the second edition of the Benedicció de Setúria on Saturday, June 27, featuring an expanded urban transhumance with a flock of around 1,000 sheep—more than triple the 300 from last year—passing through the parish centre.
Organised by the Comú de la Massana, with participation from Ramaders d’Andorra and Government support, the event aims to bring residents closer to the primary sector and highlight transhumance, recognised as a Cultural Event of Interest and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Building on the success of the inaugural edition, the sheep route has been lengthened for better public viewing of this mountain pastoral tradition. The animals will depart at 9am from the Costes de Teixidó roundabout, move through the urban core, and arrive at Prat Gran.
The day will continue with a countryside lunch at 1pm at Serrat de l’Esmaligat, prepared by the Confraria de Sant Antoni in partnership with Cafè el Conseller. Tickets cost €8 and are available via the La Massana+ app or Visit La Massana portal. Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended. Attendees must walk about 500 metres from the Fonts Roges parking area to the venue.
La Massana’s minor consul, Roger Fité, noted that the event offers a chance to spend time with shepherds and promote local products.
