Andorra-US Fulbright Committee Boosts English Teaching and Scholarships in Barcelona Meeting

The Andorra-US Bilateral Fulbright Committee convened on Thursday at the US Consulate General in Barcelona to monitor educational and cultural cooperation initiatives under the Fulbright Programme, active since 2000.

More than 20 Andorran students have completed postgraduate studies at leading US universities through the programme, according to government records. Meeting participants endorsed a primary candidate and an alternate for the 2027-2028 Fulbright scholarship, submitting both to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board for approval.

Members also agreed to place five English-teaching assistants with instructional staff at three secondary schools, the Andorran Baccalaureate School, and the Vocational Training Centre starting next academic year. The assistants aim to improve English proficiency and promote exchanges between the two nations.

The decision extends prior efforts, including this year's MIT Global Teaching Lab, which deployed five Massachusetts Institute of Technology students to bolster science instruction at Andorran facilities.

The group further tracked current Andorran scholarship recipients, evaluated guidelines for 2028-2029 postgraduate applications, and examined additional academic partnerships. Officials from both countries noted the programme's progress and pledged to deepen bilateral educational and cultural links.
