A 19-year-old artist with the Cirque du Soleil production remains in stable condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital following a near-drowning incident at the public pool in the Casa Muntanya hotel complex in upper Escaldes-Engordany.

The episode occurred on Monday afternoon during one of the cast's days off from Ràdio Andorra, the company's show that opened last Friday at the Prada Casadet tent. The young performer was spending leisure time at the facility—Andorra's only outdoor public pool, which draws crowds in summer—alongside other troupe members.

A nine-year-old child playing in the water noticed the woman, who had been out of the pool earlier, submerged and motionless at the bottom. The child alerted the lifeguard, prompting immediate action. Two bystanders and the lifeguard pulled her from the water; she was unconscious with signs of asphyxiation but still had a pulse.

Emergency medical services and police responded swiftly to the scene. Paramedics stabilised her enough for transfer to hospital, where she was initially intubated. She is no longer on artificial ventilation and shows positive progress, though authorities have not detailed the exact circumstances leading to the prolonged submersion.

Police compiled a report listing all those present, while Andorra Turisme and Cirque du Soleil confirmed the incident was unrelated to her professional duties. No further details have emerged, pending family contact and respect for privacy.
