Encamp Launches Autumn Routes with Guided Hikes, Via Ferratas and Mushroom Foraging

Encamp parish council has launched its Autumn Routes programme for October, featuring guided hikes, via ferratas and mushroom foraging excursions led by specialists to highlight local fungi and mountain terrain.

The initiative, returning after last year's success, includes five guided mountain outings from 3 to 31 October, plus three foraging trips on Sundays 11, 18 and 25. These explore various valleys and areas within the parish, teaching participants to identify Andorran mushroom varieties and their typical habitats.

Activities begin on 3 October with the easy Coll dels Isards via ferrata at Pas de la Casa, open to those aged 10 and above. The 10 October route covers eight kilometres to Estany Moreno, with 600 metres of elevation gain. On 17 October, fit hikers tackle the challenging Bony d’Envalira via ferrata at Grau Roig, ascending to 2,664 metres for views of the Pessons glacial cirque.

Families can opt for the 24 October beginner Clots de l’Aspra via ferrata at Cortals d’Encamp, suitable from age 10. The programme ends on 31 October with a nine-kilometre loop to Ensagents, gaining 750 metres and passing Estany Moreno, the refuge and Ensagents lakes.

Foraging outings run about five hours, starting at 9am from Encamp Tourist Office, with private vehicles to trailheads. They cost €2 per person. Guided hikes are €5. Participants should check route details and required gear. Limited spaces require bookings at Encamp or Pas de la Casa tourist offices.
