La Massana parish council officials marked the International Day of Older Persons on Thursday by visiting the area's three oldest residents to offer tributes.
Major Consul Eva Sansa and Welfare and Seniors Councillor Marc Jové, accompanied by department head Clàudia Garcia, called on Josep Martos, Lluís Molné, and Aurora Areny in the company of their families. Martos, La Massana's oldest resident at 102, approaches his 103rd birthday in December. Molné marked his centenary in June, and Areny will reach 100 this Saturday.
Each received a potted plant, a tile of locally made artisanal chocolate, and the parish council's silver pin, which they accepted with evident delight. The group shared stories from the honourees' lives, reflections on changes in the parish, old photographs, and tips for remaining active.
"At La Massana we have very long-lived people, and today we wanted to give them a special tribute," Jové explained. He added recognition for all older residents, noting the council's range of activities and resources to support healthy ageing, which residents engage with actively and demonstrate through their vitality.
Events continued in the afternoon with a snack gathering at the Casa Pairal.
