Andorra Police Arrest Two Men for Stealing 250kg of Copper Cables from Construction Sites

Police in Andorra arrested two young men, aged 21 and 24, early Thursday morning in Sant Julià de Lòria on suspicion of theft from construction sites. One of the suspects is not a resident.

A security guard spotted the pair acting suspiciously near waste containers in a construction area, where they were handling electrical cables and moving them toward a nearby vehicle. The guard alerted officers, who arrived quickly and caught the men as they tried to remove cables from a reel.

Police searched the suspects' Andorran-plated car and found about 30 rolls of electrical cable in the trunk, weighing roughly 250 kilograms and valued at approximately 3,000 euros. Initial inquiries indicate the cable came from multiple construction sites across the Principality, taken to extract and sell the copper.

The men face charges related to property crimes and were taken to police stations for processing. Specialists continue investigating to confirm the exact origins of the recovered material, identify affected site owners, and check for links to recent similar thefts. One suspect appears tied to earlier incidents at various sites.
