Andorran Police Extradite 76-Year-Old Convicted Child Sex Abuser from Spain

Andorran police completed the extradition of a 76-year-old man on Thursday midday, taking custody of him at the Runer River border crossing before escorting him directly to La Comella Penitentiary Centre for immediate incarceration.

The man faced an international arrest warrant issued by the Tribunal de Corts in 2024 and circulated via Interpol. He had been convicted in 2021 of two counts of ongoing major sexual abuse against two girls under 14 with whom he lived at the time of the offences, which took place years earlier. By the time the firm prison sentence was issued, he was no longer located in Andorra.

Spanish authorities detained him in January this year. After both countries finalised the necessary judicial and administrative processes, police assumed control at the border and transferred him straight to the penitentiary to begin serving his sentence.

The handover marks the end of procedures triggered by the 2024 warrant, enabling enforcement of the original 2021 ruling.
