Two Apartments Burglarized in Escaldes-Engordany Building Near Caldea

Police in Escaldes-Engordany continue investigating two burglaries at the Salita Park residential complex on Carrer Josep Viladomat, near the Caldea spa, where thieves stole gold items, jewelry, and watches from one apartment.

The break-ins occurred overnight from Monday to Tuesday. Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. after a tenant spotted suspicious activity via security camera. They discovered a drilled door lock and ransacked interior in one unit. A search of the building uncovered a second apartment on another floor with similar forced entry.

Owners of the first apartment returned from vacation and filed a police complaint yesterday, listing the missing valuables—small, high-value items easy to transport. The second apartment's owner remains abroad, with losses still pending a formal report in coming days. Investigators view the stolen goods' profile as matching patterns from other Andorran robberies, including those in 2021, with summer timing and lock-drilling access.

Police are working intensively to gather evidence and identify suspects, including video footage review. They are checking for links to a burglary in the same building about two months ago, given overlapping methods. Initial findings show at least one door bore markers—possibly plastic fragments or threads—used to confirm vacancy beforehand, suggesting the thieves knew residents were away.

The complex, mainly owner-occupied with some rentals, installed communal cameras five years ago after earlier thefts. Some residents are now considering interior cameras. With holidays ongoing, authorities worry about further incidents and reiterate summer advice: double-lock doors, though thieves' tools allow quick, traceless entry.
