Andorran Red Cross Launches Fundraiser for Colombia's Deadly 7.4 Quake Victims

The Andorran Red Cross has launched a fundraising campaign to support victims of a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on 10 August.

The quake, centred in San José del Palmar in the Chocó department, has caused widespread devastation. Provisional tolls vary across reports, with death counts exceeding 169 in initial assessments and rising above 260 in later updates. Hundreds have been injured—figures range from 570 to nearly 3,500—while dozens to nearly 500 remain missing. Cities including Cali, Pereira, Manizales and Quibdó have seen the heaviest damage, with collapsed buildings, disrupted hospitals and thousands of families left homeless.

In response, the Andorran Red Cross is urging contributions to aid those who have lost everything. "Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference," the organisation emphasised in its appeal.

Donations can be made via bank transfer to designated accounts at Andbank, Creand and MoraBanc, or through Bizum using the code 07400. The campaign aims to provide immediate relief to affected families. Authorities in Colombia continue to update the casualty figures as rescue efforts persist.
