No Criminal Activity Found in Ordino Luxury Building Blaze

Police and fire investigators in Andorra's Ordino parish ruled out apparent signs of criminal activity during an initial technical visual inspection of the luxury residential complex at La Querola, which a fire gutted on Tuesday.

The joint effort on Thursday morning brought together police, firefighters, and technicians from the government's Industry department. They gained access to the affected building interiors after firefighters declared the blaze extinguished and secured the site.

Experts identified the approximate point where the flames began and mapped their path. The examination uncovered no evidence pointing to deliberate arson. Cooler overnight temperatures allowed the team to begin work earlier than anticipated.

The blaze damaged four of the complex's seven blocks, with a fifth suffering significant harm. Authorities opened the police inquiry on Tuesday, the day of the fire. No one was hurt.

Juanjo Barrio, head of the Andorran fire service, explained on Wednesday that the wooden structural components—treated with fire retardants—still fueled the fire's ferocity once intense heat took hold.

The area stays cordoned off under a security perimeter. The probe, now moving through judicial processes, will extend over coming weeks as teams gather and review further evidence to establish the fire's exact cause.
