Cristina Rico Steps Down as Liberals d'Andorra President for New Personal Project

Cristina Rico has stepped down as president of Liberals d'Andorra after three years in the role, citing an incompatibility with a new personal project she plans to launch soon.

She announced the decision during an executive meeting on Wednesday evening, describing her tenure as transitional from the outset. Rico assumed leadership at a difficult time for the party, following internal fractures and weaker-than-expected election results that deterred other candidates. Despite initially wishing to continue, she determined the new venture would clash with presidential duties.

Rico spoke positively of her time in charge, expressing satisfaction with efforts to unify the party and build alliances, including new ties with Ciutadans Compromesos and renewed links with Acció. She stressed she held no political ambitions and thanked both the first and second executives for their work. Her departure from the presidency and executive board involves no internal disagreements, and she plans to stay on as a party member.

Before deciding, Rico consulted vice-presidents Jordi Cerqueda and Víctor Pintos. The three agreed that Pintos would serve as interim president and Cerqueda as vice-president until a party congress in the coming weeks elects a new leadership team. Rico views the timing as ideal, allowing Liberals d'Andorra to enter upcoming political negotiations with fresh direction.
