The Gim Jove youth gym programme, run by Andorra la Vella's Youth Service, has wrapped up its first year of operation on a high note, with 56 teenagers taking part.

From October 2025 to June this year, the initiative drew adolescents aged 12 to 15, including 15 girls and 41 boys with an average age of 14. Organisers described the turnout as evidence of strong demand, establishing the gym as a key resource in the parish.

The project stemmed from recommendations by the 2023-2024 Youth Council, which highlighted the need for a sports space tailored to this age group. It launched as a free pilot from October to December 2025. Positive feedback prompted the Comú to make it permanent from January, introducing affordable quarterly registrations to boost accessibility and encourage regular attendance.

Sessions take place at the Estadi Comunal Joan Samarra Vila, with flexible weekly schedules allowing participants to join one or two days a week. FC Andorra supports the programme under a partnership agreement with the Comú, covering the cost of the specialised coach.

Councillor for Social Affairs, Youth and Public Space Maria Nazzaro said the response showed the value of listening to young people. "It confirms that hearing young voices is the best way to create services meeting their real needs," she noted.

Participants appreciate the safe, low-pressure environment, with suitable equipment, adapted training and personalised guidance. Beyond fitness, the gym promotes healthy habits, social bonds and personal development. Nazzaro added: "It's more than a sports space—it's where teens build routines, connect with peers and grow in a secure, supported setting."
