FC Andorra Pays €455K to Ex-Coach Sarabia, Lifts Player Registration Blockade

FC Andorra has settled its debts with former coach Eder Sarabia and assistant Jon López, paying a total of around €455,000 to clear obligations stemming from their 2024 dismissals. The club now awaits confirmation from the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) to lift a services blockade and resume normal player registrations.

On Monday, FC Andorra transferred €411,557.74 to Sarabia and €43,901.47 to López. The payments fulfill a Superior Court sentence that increased their compensation claims, following an initial Batllia ruling. The dispute began with the pair's dismissal in March 2024, when the team faced relegation from Primera RFEF despite contracts running to June 2025. Sarabia and López had sought full contract values of €782,740; after legal proceedings spanning over two years, the outstanding amount—beyond funds already deposited—triggered the RFEF's restrictions on licenses for players, coaches, and staff.

Club officials have consistently described the delays as tied to legal defenses rather than liquidity shortages. The blockade has limited the squad to just 13 registered players, per LaLiga's website, including two long-term injured players (Gael Alonso and Théo Le Normand) and one who has since departed (Villahermosa).

With the season opener against Ceuta set for August 15 in Encamp—just 10 days away—the club anticipates the RFEF will revoke the sanctions soon, enabling registration of summer signings and remaining players. President Ferran Vilaseca and general and sporting director Jaume Nogués had indicated last week that resolution was imminent, restoring administrative functions for the transfer period.
