Pau López Joins FC Andorra on Three-Year Deal After Girona Stint

Pau López, the 31-year-old Spanish international goalkeeper previously with Girona, has signed a three-year deal with FC Andorra, with an option for a fourth year. At his official unveiling on Tuesday at the Nou Estadi de la FAF in Encamp, the Catalan player described the transfer as one of the most thrilling steps in his professional journey, driven by both the club's rising project and personal ties to the principality.

López, whose career includes stints at Espanyol, Real Betis, Roma, Olympique de Marseille, Girona and Deportivo Toluca, said he had achieved his childhood ambitions but now sought a fresh approach in a setting where his family could thrive near home. He highlighted regular family holidays in Andorra, noting its calm atmosphere and sense of happiness. "It's a place where we've always felt at ease," he added.

The move also reignited his passion for the game after two years of limited play. He expressed eagerness to enjoy football again within FC Andorra's developing setup, which he had followed from afar. López praised the team's playing style under coach Carles Manso, reminiscent of his time under Setién at Betis, involving patient build-up from the back. He arrives competing for a spot behind Nico Ratti and Jan Lagunas, insisting no position is assured. Ratti, he said, stands as the club's most vital figure currently, thanks to his leadership and dedication in training.

Separately, FC Andorra has settled its €460,000 debt to ex-coach Eder Sarabia and awaits Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) approval to release player licenses. The club also confirmed the loan of Andorran international Aron Rodrigo to Primera RFEF side Mirandés for the season. Rodrigo, who joined on a free transfer from Osasuna's youth ranks last summer on a three-year deal, will gain experience through consistent appearances.

López emphasized earning consistency and contributing wherever needed, while calling on supporters to pack the stands and help forge a strong identity in the Segunda División.
