Petrol and diesel models drove the growth amid a decline in electrics

Andorra saw 387 new vehicle registrations in August, up 5.7% from 366 the previous year, with data from the statistics department showing gains in petrol and diesel models despite a drop in fully electric vehicles.

The total included 292 new vehicles and 95 imports. By category, "other" vehicles jumped 350% with seven more units, motorcycles and mopeds rose 28.1% with 18 additional registrations, and passenger cars increased 0.4% by one unit. Trucks and vans declined 11.4%, down five units.

Through the first eight months of the year, registrations reached 3,874, a 11.7% rise from 3,468 in the prior year. Every category advanced: passenger cars by 260 (11%), trucks and vans by 37 (11.8%), motorcycles and mopeds by 81 (11.7%), and others by 28 (32.2%).

Fuel breakdowns for August highlighted 200 petrol vehicles, up 15.6%, and 63 diesel, up 14.5%. Fully electric registrations fell to 13 from 20, a 35% drop. Hybrids totaled 102, down five units overall, though plug-in petrol hybrids climbed 85.7% while non-plug-in petrol versions dropped 20.3%. Vehicles without fuel numbered nine, down two.

Year-to-date, non-plug-in petrol hybrids rose by 146 (30.3%), while fully electrics declined by 31 (16.2%) and plug-in diesel hybrids by nine (52.9%).

Over the past 12 months, registrations totaled 5,858, up 13.7% from 5,153. All groups grew: others by 47.9%, trucks and vans by 27.8%, passenger cars by 12.8%, and motorcycles and mopeds by 6.6%. Absolute figures included 2,926 petrol vehicles, 359 plug-in petrol hybrids, 195 non-plug-in diesel hybrids, and 244 electrics.

Seasonally adjusted figures point to an upward trend across the last five months, with a 3.3% gain.
